Highlights

Stavanger City Walking Tour Explore the best of Stavanger on a guided walking tour through its most iconic streets and landmarks — from the cobblestone lanes of Gamle Stavanger and the vibrant colors of Øvre Holmegate to the bustling harbor waterfront and the historic Stavanger Cathedral. Your guide will bring the city’s culture, history, and coastal character to life.

Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock) Hike Standing 604 metres above the Lysefjord, Preikestolen is one of the most photographed natural landmarks in the world. The hike covers approximately 8 km return and takes 4–5 hours, passing through birch forests, mountain lakes, and open rock faces before the dramatic clifftop viewpoint is revealed. One of Norway’s most rewarding hiking experiences. Available May to September only.

Lysefjord Views Whether from the summit of Preikestolen or from the deck of a cruise boat, the Lysefjord stretches 42 km before you — with sheer cliff walls, cascading waterfalls, and some of the most spectacular fjord scenery in all of Norway.

Sola Beach One of Norway’s finest sandy beaches, Solastranden stretches 2.3 km along the coast just 15 minutes from Stavanger city centre. Wide open skies, golden sand, rolling waves, and remnants of World War II coastal fortifications make this a unique and memorable stop. It is also a popular spot for surfing and kiteboarding.

Ullandhaug Tower (Madla Tower) A telecommunications tower built in 1964, rising 64 metres on a hill 135 metres above sea level. From the viewing platforms, guests enjoy sweeping 360-degree panoramic views over Stavanger, the Ryfylke islands, and the Jæren coastline — one of the best vantage points in the entire region.

Hana Stairs, Sandnes A scenic viewpoint offering beautiful views over the fjord and the surrounding landscape just outside Sandnes. A short walk rewards guests with a striking perspective over the Gandsfjord and the rolling hills of Rogaland.

Scenic Lysefjord Cruise (Weather or Winter Alternative) If weather conditions are unsuitable for the Preikestolen hike, or during the October to April period when the trail is closed, the hike is replaced with a scenic Lysefjord cruise. From the water, guests experience the dramatic Preikestolen cliffs from below, along with cascading waterfalls, steep mountain walls, and the full length of the fjord — a spectacular alternative that ensures guests never miss the iconic scenery.

Norwegian Petroleum Museum (Optional — Day 3) Located right on the Stavanger waterfront, the Norwegian Petroleum Museum tells the story of how the discovery of oil in the North Sea transformed Norway. Interactive exhibits, original objects, models, and films explain the history of oil exploration — from the first North Sea drilling platforms in the mid-1960s to modern production systems. It is the most visited museum in Stavanger and is suitable for all ages.
